Summer Intensive Language Program Overview
8 credits for a 4 week program, and 16 credits for an 8 week program. 30 hours of instruction per week is combined with learning activities outside of classroom. Learn more about courses.
Students will live with host families in Kharkiv, Ukraine, allowing for a full immersion into the language and culture. Some placements in student apartments may also be available. You may indicate your preferences on the housing questionnaire form.
Students will have an orientation upon arrival in Kyiv and in Kharkiv, Ukraine. You will learn about the city, the university and meet local students from the first days abroad.
Students in the EESA community receive strong pre-departure and on-site support. Your EESA advisor will help you through the application process, and on-site staff will be available to answer any questions upon arrival. We do our best to ensure that your experience with EESA is safe, fulfilling and rewarding!
Students joining the EESA's summer abroad programs receive rental phones with activated SIM-cards from EESA free of charge. You must pay a $50 refundable security deposit for the phone and $25 non-refundable usage fee for the initial phone balance upon arrival. Cell phones must be returned to EESA at the end of the program in the same condition as they were received to obtain the deposit refund. Cell phones are mandatory for all students while studying abroad with EESA. Phones must be charged and turned on at all times.
All students who participate in the EESA program are provided with medical emergency and accidental insurance that is included in the program fee. Emergency medical evacuation insurance is not provided by EESA. Students may consider investing into such plan prior to departure.
A passport valid for at least 3 months after the end date of the EESA program is required. If you don’t already have one, you should apply for a passport immediately. It takes 4-6 weeks to get a passport and the cost is approximately $140. For passport application acceptance facilities, go to: http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/.

Summer and short term students are not required to obtain any visa. If you are a not a U.S. citizen, please contact us as soon as possible to receive assistance in obtaining any applicable visas.
