Philharmonic opened in Kharkiv

Feb 09, 2019

The Great Hall of the Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic was built at the end of the XIX century as a prototype of the famous hall of the Tuileries Palace in Paris.

“The hall has fantastic acoustics. It is very good that we made a sound shell - thanks for that to Julia Svetlichnaya. Therefore, every single note goes to the hall, ”said the director and chief conductor of the Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic Society Yuriy Yanko.

The ceremony was also attended by Petro Poroshenko, the head of the AP Igor Rainin and the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Yulia Svetlichnaya.

The building of the Kharkiv Regional Philharmonic is a monument of architecture. It was built in 1829. Since then, the building has undergone a number of restorations. Thus, the main gem of the building, the large hall, was built in 1885. A scene with an orchestra pit appeared in the hall even later - in 1891. At the end of the XIX century a large foyer was added.

Philharmonic nowadays hosts concerts from musicians from Kharkiv and around the world on a regular basis.
