“When I think of Ukraine a rich culture comes to mind. I think of Ukrainian people with serious faces but hearts of gold.”

“I expect to gain fluency and be a lot more colloquial.”

Why did you decide to study abroad with EESA?
"I've always wanted to visit Ukraine because of my family background, but studying its history and politics has only grown my interest. Having this opportunity to experience the culture and traditions is very special to me."
What do you expect to gain from living in Kharkiv?
“I hope to mature even more as a person. This is a chance to leave my comfort zone and challenge myself, and I expect that at the end I’ll be more confident in difficult situations.”

What do you think fo the EESA-Ukraine program so far?
“The EESA staff has been so great and helpful and I am thankful they are the people in charge of this program. The Ukrainian people are nice and interesting. The architecture is so beautiful and unique. Everything is so great to be around and I love it here.”
What do you expect to gain from living in Kharkiv?
“I expect to gain a fluency in Russian and a lot of great new friends, a knowledge of a new culture and a different view of the world.”

What do you expect to gain from studying abroad with EESA?
“The EESA-Ukraine program offers a very unique opportunity that we are fortunate to be a part of. It has been extremely welcoming. The food and people are great. It is very clean, especially public transportation. People are much more open and friendly than they appear. I feel comfortable attempting the language and people are happy to teach!”
What do you expect to gain from living in Kharkiv?
“A perspective of the government system, current economic condition and long-term effects of WWII and the Cold War from a Ukrainian/Russian point of view as well as full immersion in a foreign language.”

“The EESA staff has been super helpful, nice, caring, not intimidation and easy to approach. The food is very good, and the architecture is beautiful in Kharkiv, and in Kiev it is absolutely gorgeous.”

“While living in Kharkiv I expect to gain more experience with the Russian language and more cultural experience.”
