Apply for spring 2018 semester now!!!

Now more than ever Kharkiv, Ukraine is a very attractive place to study abroad. By spending a semester in Kharkiv, a Ukrainian city next to the border with Russia, you'll gain a much deeper understanding of the region, the history, the culture and mentality that influence the relations between the countries today. All of our alumni fall in love with Kharkiv and refer to their study abroad experience with EESA as life changing and the best decision they made in college. A lot of our alumni keep coming back to either visit, do internships, or even move to Kharkiv for long-term. EESA program in 2014 and beyond

EESA has successfully launched the online language immersion program with the first group completing their 8-week study in June and July 2014. Because of the Russian aggression towards Ukraine, EESA made a decision to remove academic field trips to Russia from our semester and year programs starting with the spring 2015. 200th anniversary since the birth of Taras Shevchenko

Today marks the 200th anniversary since the birth of Taras Shevchenko, a great Ukrainian poet, writer, painter, ethnographer and civil rights activist. Taras Shevchenko became one of the best known symbolic figures of the Ukrainian nation not just for his creative achievements, but also for his fight for freedom, against slavery and the institution of serfdom itself.

Update about Safety in Ukraine

Just a couple of days ago, EESA sent an email regarding student safety in Ukraine. Within only 24 hours, Putin received parliamentary permission to use Russian troops in Ukraine. EESA made a decision to evacuate the students within 48 hours. At this point, 2014 summer and fall programs are set to take place as scheduled and we are hopeful that the international community, Ukraine and Russia can seek a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

A safety update from Eastern European Study Abroad

EESA would like to issue an update on the situation in Ukraine.  At this time, EESA does not foresee any threat to the students currently in Kharkiv and is taking all necessary measurements to maintain a safe environment for all EESA participants. Furthermore, EESA would like to state that the 2014 programs for the summer and fall will be taking place as scheduled. EESA anticipates that by the beginning of these terms, the situation in Ukraine will be stabilized and safe.
